Mapping the World: Geography Through the Lens of History
with Greg Corona
Ages: 11 - 18
$715
This course explores world geography through the lens of history, showing how physical landscapes and human events are deeply connected. Students learn to read and interpret maps, including latitude and longitude, map types, scale, and projections. They also examine the distortions and biases that can exist in maps. The course then traces how major civilizations such as the Babylonians, Egyptians, Chinese, Romans, Asia, Europe, and cultures of the Americas shaped the regions they inhabited. Students explore how exploration, trade, empire-building, and conflict influenced modern borders. By the end, students will understand not just how to read a map, but why the world looks the way it does.
