Who wouldn’t want to escape and play in the world of magic, fairytales, and royalty? In Snapology’s Castles & Kingdoms program, students will have the opportunity to use LEGO® bricks to design their medieval fantasies while also bringing the real history to life! Yes, your student will do more than just build with LEGO® bricks, they will build their historical understanding of the unique elements that make the medieval time period such a fascinating point in human history.

Dance Around the World

In the Dance Around the World, we will “visit” a new country each week through the joy of dance! The dancers will learn fundamentals of each style and the cultural, social and traditional contexts in which specific dances are performed. Students will also learn dance literacy and how to describe the movement they observe and feel in order to have meaningful discussions about each dance. Please dress comfortably and bring a water bottle.

Korean and k-culture

This class introduces students to the vibrant world of Korean language and culture through an engaging and interactive approach. Students will learn basic Korean phrases, reading, and writing while exploring traditions, customs, and everyday life in Korea. The course also highlights key aspects of K-culture, including K-pop, K-dramas, food, fashion, and etiquette. Through hands-on activities, group projects, and cultural experiences, students will build both language skills and cultural understanding. This class encourages curiosity, global awareness, and appreciation for diversity. All you need is an open mind and a willingness to explore a new culture.

Reading Comprehension

Ages: 7 - 10

Depending on the pace/comfort of the class, we will cover several reading comprehension topics, including, but not limited to, some of the following: introduction to genres and different approaches to reading/reading with a purpose; fiction or nonfiction, how to tell the difference; text features of non-fiction; main idea vs. supporting details of a text; identifying and using time, sequence, and cause/effect language; predicting; retelling; identifying story elements such as characters, setting, plot; comparing and/or contrasting two or more texts written on the same topic; using graphic organizers; and facts vs. opinions. Good reading habits will be encouraged throughout our time together. Students should be able to read on at least a 2nd-grade level and be able to write or type a summarizing sentence or up to two short responses to questions presented about the passage that was read within 5 minutes, as well as be able to respond orally with at least short answers to presented questions during discussion. There will be homework.

Stem Stories - Nature Explorers

In this class we will read stories about the bugs and critters in our environment. We will go outside and look for bugs and critters and keep a nature journal to document who lives in the ecosystem. We will also do some fun critter crafts!!

Talons and Tails: Paws

Ages: 11 - 18

Talons and Tails: Paws is a class where students will use faux fur and other craft based fabrics to create a set of wearable paws. The aim of this class is to promote individual creativity and teach different skills that are applicable in many different kinds of sewing. Inspired by whatever animal the students are interested in, students will draft and customize patterns. Students will learn and use a variety of techniques as well. A couple of examples being appliqué on a machine, sewing by hand, and finishing techniques for cuffing.
