Students will love watching Marvel movies in order to learn the various elements of storytelling. We will cover both basic elements such as characterization, setting, and plot, as well as elements required to compose a compelling story. Assignments will be minimal other than watching the movies and making a few notes, and will include creating an oral story and a written story. Please Note that some adult themes are found in some of the Marvel movies, including a great deal of violence.

Literary Analysis-Grab your magnifying glass and step into the world of literary investigation! In Literary Detective Agency, students become story sleuths—uncovering clues, analyzing motives, and revealing the hidden meanings behind every tale. Together, we’ll read four diverse and thought-provoking books: A Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking by T. Kingfisher, a magical mystery where even bread can be a weapon for justice; Haroun and the Sea of Stories by Salman Rushdie, an imaginative adventure about the power of storytelling; Animal Farm by George Orwell, a sharp allegory about power and corruption; and It’s Not Bragging If It’s True by Zaila Avant-Garde, a modern memoir about brilliance, resilience, and finding your voice. Through discussion, creative writing, and projects, students will crack literary “case files,” decode symbols and metaphors, and sharpen their analytical skills to see stories not just as readers—but as literary detectives.

Explore the world from your classroom seat! In this interactive geography course, students will journey across continents and cultures while learning how people, places, and environments shape one another. Through maps, data, stories, and hands-on projects, students will discover the physical features of Earth from towering mountains to vast biomes and examine the human systems that connect our global community. Students will develop essential geography skills, including reading and creating maps, interpreting climate and population data, and analyzing cultural and economic patterns. Along the way, they’ll learn to think like geographers, asking critical questions about how geography influences history, trade, migration, and everyday life.

With this class we will work on techniques and skills to get you ready for the next steps in your art, creating a foundation of skills for you to make your best work. Each week we will focus on different techniques, exercises, and materials to create a variety of pieces to showcase at the end of the semester.

Have a child that loves to bounce around, climbs the furniture or just seems to have an abundance of energy? Sign them up for a tumbling class! We will learn the basics of tumbling, how to do it safely and how to also increase their flexibility. This is a great foundation class for a lot of activities. The pace of the class depends on the children that are enrolled, if children catch on quickly we can learn quite a bit. This is a class for any beginner, coordinated or not!
