Cryptid Quest: Exploring the Southeast Through Monsters & Maps - R1
with Sarah Akers
Ages: 8 - 12
Cryptids are more than just spooky stories! They can help tell about the geography, history, and folklore of the southeastern United States. In this class, we’ll journey through swamps, mountains, coasts, and the deep, dark backwoods as we investigate the region’s legendary cryptids. Each week will take us to a new state, uncovering local legends and sneakily learning about the physical geography and cultural history that formed these tales. Whether you’re a fan of (age-appropriately creepy!) monsters, mysteries, or maps, this class will provide a new way to learn about the southeast.
