Beginning Sewing - R1

In this class we will learn how to hand stitch with needle and thread and how to sew using a sewing machine. We will made small projects such as pillows, pin cushions, and other small projects based on student interest.
Cryptid Quest: Exploring the Southeast Through Monsters & Maps - R1

Cryptids are more than just spooky stories! They can help tell about the geography, history, and folklore of the southeastern United States. In this class, we’ll journey through swamps, mountains, coasts, and the deep, dark backwoods as we investigate the region’s legendary cryptids. Each week will take us to a new state, uncovering local legends and sneakily learning about the physical geography and cultural history that formed these tales. Whether you’re a fan of (age-appropriately creepy!) monsters, mysteries, or maps, this class will provide a new way to learn about the southeast.
Forensic Psychology - Criminal Profiling - R1

This dynamic high school course introduces students to forensic psychology with a focus on criminal profiling. Students explore the psychological factors driving criminal behavior and learn to analyze crime scenes, behavioral patterns, and evidence to build offender profiles. The curriculum covers key topics including the psychology of offenders, deception detection, insanity defenses, and distinctions between types of violent offenders such as serial and mass murderers. The course integrates hands-on activities such as case study analyses, simulated crime scene profiling, and collaborative projects where students work as investigative teams to solve mysteries. Legal concepts related to forensic psychology, including court procedures and the role of psychological evidence in trials, are also examined. Critical thinking, scientific inquiry, and ethical considerations guide the learning experience, preparing students for careers in law enforcement, forensic psychology, and criminal justice.
Skeletal and Nervous Anatomy - R1

This class will take a deep dive into the skeletal and nervous systems of the human body. In the first half of the semester, students will learn all about bones and how they work and the important roles they play to keep you alive. The second half of the semester will cover the brain and all the sensory inputs and outputs that go with it. This is a fairly rigorous class that includes labs, homework, and exams.
Sketch Dramedy - R1

Ages: 10 - 13
Sketch Dramedy is a custom class that meets students where they are in the joy of acting. Learning collaboration & communication skills are essential to life and skills we hone in this class. Combining Classic Comedy and Drama Sketches throughout the semester, students will study acting, actors & timing. This class uses movement and vocal exercises so comfortable clothing and water bottles are a must.

Teen Art & Design - Credit Worthy - R1/2

Ages: 13 - 18
This class is 2 hours long and will be worth a full credit, extending into May.
This class will offer a fresh and engaging approach, departing from the conventional art lesson. Students will not only learn fundamental concepts and techniques in art and design but also learn how to creatively express their thoughts and ideas. Through collaborative projects across various art media and other subjects, students will experience new and diverse creative endeavors. It will broaden their creative perspectives and thinking while exploring and discovering their own artistic voice. All you need is an open mind to enjoy the class.
